John hailing from Minnesota moved to the South at the age of 19 and has worked since in the world of country and bluegrass music. Originally trained in jazz and swing, as well as infuenced by rock and roll, he has stepped into a new realm with The Sweetgrass Revival and has grown to love the songwriting and the storytelling of southern rooted music. Adapting to traditional country was not a challenge with his fluid and melodic style of play. Adding a percussion element to the acoustic lineup has been an exciting addition to the sound of the band.
Susan is the sole original member of the group. She is a very accomplished singer, songwriter, fiddler, and guitarist as well as being the driving force behind the band. The bands repertoire features her original tunes as well as all the favorites the fans have come to expect when they see the band perform. Although classically trained Susan had a love for country and bluegrass music which led to the formation of the band.
The band was formed in 2003 as The Sweetgrass Girls. Performing mainly as a duo, there is the option of a trio or four piece band which adds mandolin and bass for bigger venues such as weddings and corporate events. There have been a few changes over the years with each new rendition growing musically as well as gaining in popularity. This latest incarnation of the band welcomes it's newest member John Mohror on drums as well as a somewhat new name that in itself insinuates a new resurgence in the band... The Sweetgrass Revival.
